About

Summit Public Schools students have the opportunity to enroll in two Expeditions classes per year. These immersive elective classes meet four times a year for two-week cycles. For the 2021-22 school year, the journalism class is being offered at four sites: Summit Denali, Summit Everest, Summit Prep and Summit Tahoma. We have reporters working hard to cover the rest of our SPS campuses in California, including teams from K2 and Shasta!

Summit News was recognized twice at the 2022 JEANC competition. The recognized submissions are:

*Feature Video: Lia Bhas and the Prep team was recognized for their work on the video for Summit Prep’s Re-opening Plan.

*News Story: Evelyn Archibald was recognized for her work reporting on contract negotiations.

For the upcoming 2022-23 school year, Summit News welcomes Jovani Contreras as the new student advisor.

If you would like one of your submissions removed from the website, please fill out tinyurl.com/SubmissionRemovalRequest or contact Angela at jcontreras.sp@mysummitps.org

Our organization follows the policies outlined in our policy manual, which can be found here: Summit News Staff Policy Manual
