Since the beta release of “Minecraft” in 2009 and the full release of “Minecraft” in 2011, Mojang has now sold more than 230 million copies of “Minecraft”. According to Statista, “Minecraft” is also the most played game of all time with 141 million players globally.
When “Minecraft” was released in 2009 it was still in the beta version of the game. “Minecraft” was not fully released until November 2011 by Mojang’s owner and creator Markus “Notch” Persson.
“Minecraft” has had an update every year since its full release in 2011; in 2022 “Minecraft” is currently on the second part of its seventeenth full update called the “Caves and Cliffs” update, which was split into two parts because of the size of the update and the number of features releasing in the update.
“Minecraft” is a sandbox video game with an infinite generation, meaning the world is neverending. The goal is to explore the world and defeat the Ender Dragon, the end boss of “Minecraft”. However, after beating the Ender Dragon the game is far from over; with achievements and building and exploration to be done, “Minecraft” is a game with no end.
In 2010, a second realm was added to “Minecraft” called the Nether. The Nether is an infinite world full of dangerous monsters and powerful treasures and huge lava lakes that are dangerous to cross.
10 years after the Nether was added to “Minecraft”, it got updated adding 4 new biomes and changing the Zombie Pigman to Zombified Piglins. It also adds a couple of mobs, which is what the animals and monsters are called in “Minecraft”, like the Piglin, Piglin Brute, the Hoglins, and Striders.
The End update was in 2016 adding the end realm and many other features. One of the new things added was the Ender Dragon, the final boss of the game. When the Ender Dragon is defeated, it unlocks the end credits and the end cities.
The end cities are cities at the end of the game, as the achievement says when you find one. In the end cities, you can find rare and valuable items that will make the game easier for you. The end cities are protected by Shulkers which when killed can drop Shulker shells which can be crafted into Shulker boxes, Shulker boxes are storage devices that can be moved with items in them.
The elytra are one of the best items in the game, it can only be found on end city boats which are not very common. The elytra let you fly, many players also boost themselves forward to fly longer and faster using rockets.
In the end, “Minecraft” is one of the best and most popular games of all time and Mojang will probably sell more than 300 million copies. You can be one of the 300 million people who own “Minecraft”, all you have to do is buy it.
