As of Aug. 25, 2021, Relogic announced that Terraria update 1.4 Journey’s End will be coming to consoles like the Xbox and Playstation. Terraria 1.4 Journey’s End was the biggest and final content update that Terraria ever had. It was only released to PC players on May 16, 2020, and it has been greatly anticipated by many consumers on other platforms that the update would be released and finally, after all this time it has finally come. In a statement made by Relogic in Terraria State of the Game Sept. 2021, the Journey’s End will be released on Sept. 30 to both Xbox and Playstation consoles.
The Relogic team has also declared that after the release of Terraria Journey’s End to other platforms their next step is the addition of cross-platform gaming. This will give consumers the ability to play with anyone on any platform. They sadly do not have an estimated release date but Relogic did release in a statement that, “The team is chipping away at the extra work needed to bring Journey’s End to Nintendo Switch.”
tModLoader has released its Alpha version for 1.4. This will bring all of the new additions from update 1.4 and add them to new mods. The alpha version is mainly for mod developers so that they can create and test their mods, but it is still open to the public. It is to be assumed that there will be many bugs and glitches in the early stages but this will lead to a cleaner version once released into beta and then its full release.
The “Steam Deck” is Steam’s take on mobile gaming. It has a close resemblance to the Nintendo Switch but is intended to run PC games without the need for a PC. In the same statement, they wrote, “Recently, we were fortunate enough to receive one of the early waves of development hardware for Steam Deck. Terraria runs so well already on this amazing new platform, it is so customizable and opens the door for all new control schemes and more.” Once the Steam Deck is released this will give many people a chance to play Terraria without the need for a computer or other platform.
