With the COVID-19 pandemic that is currently happening, celebrities have chosen to help support their community by donating money and supplies as well as helping those that have been affected by the lockdown.

One celebrity that took action is singer, Demi Levato. She decided to launch “The Mental Health Fund” for those who are affected mentally due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

She wrote in an Instagram post, “So many have been left alone with their thoughts, their anxieties, their abusers – and are struggling with the uncertainty of these times.” She felt it was her duty to help others through these tough times as she had gone through it in her life – from the criticism to the rehabilitation.

Another celebrity that chose to help amid the Covid-19 pandemic is Leonardo Dicaprio. In a Vogue article, he co-founded America’s Food Fund and moved it toward success by raising $12 million by April 3 to help those who are struggling with getting food.

Leonardo Dicaprio said in an ABC News article, “In the face of this crisis, organizations like World Central Kitchen and Feeding America have inspired us all with their unwavering commitment to feed the most vulnerable people in need.”

While some celebrities donate or raise money for those in need, others have decided to support the community by giving out supplies.

For instance, in an article by Vogue, Jay-Z and Meek Mill “donated some 100,000 surgical masks to look out for the health of one of the U.S.’s most vulnerable populations: inmates in prisons and jails across the country.” They realized how bad COVID-19 can be for prison inmates as social distancing is difficult to maintain.

Each of these people embody what Cody Simpson texted on an Instagram post, “Show some love to yours in your community!”

One way that Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus supported their community was by delivering 120 tacos to healthcare workers to a local hospital.

“Even when the virus is gone, the devastation left by people not being able to work for months who were holding on paycheck to paycheck, who have used up their savings — people are going to be in need,” said Oprah Winfrey in an article by The Hollywood Reporter. “So my thing is, look in your own neighborhood, in your own backyard to see how you can serve and where your service is most essential.”
